Part of the Schießrain development plan was the rearrangement of existing sports facilities, while taking into account potential future expansion. In consideration of possible concerns on the part of players and nearby residents, the focus was on safety and noise pollution,
Some sections of the existing hard surface tennis court were converted into an artificial turf pitch. It was also possible to ensure the safety of players, as well as protecting road traffic by confining the pitch and installing floodlight dispersion. Noise pollution is reduced by a sound-absorbing safety cage.
Apart from the fields in Mönchengladbach and Munich, the artificial turf pitch in Weil der Stadt is among the FIFA-recommended "2-star facilities", of which there are only 28 facilities throughout Europe (as at 12/2006).
