A new cable-stayed bridge

Client: Weil der Stadt City Council
Period of execution: 2006

The Heinrichsberg residential area, where the Bürgerheim retirement centre is located, was almost separated from the nearby Mittelberg recreational and protected landscape area by the newly constructed three-lane Southern bypass of Weil der Stadt. Due to the topography, crossing over the highway by means of the existing bridges was not easy, and also particularly difficult for the handicapped. Access to the appealing Mittelberg landscape was thus almost denied.

By establishing a crossover facility in the form of a cable-stayed bridge, it is now possible for pedestrians from the retirement centre to get to the other side without having to climb. This new technically advanced structure, right at the gateway to Weil der Stadt, is also visually appealing when approaching from Renningen.
